Bracket Projection: Nebraska C1 Girls State Basketball

The district finals are nearly set with one sub-district between Concordia and Fort Calhoun to finish. I decided to try and project a bracket for the C1 State Tournament. Chadron appears to have locked in the No. 1 seed in the tournament, regardless of the district final outcome. A loss would still keep the Lady Cardinals 0.25 points ahead of No. 2 Sandy Creek. With that said, the Lady Cardinals will play the winner of the C1-3 district which could be Arlington (11-10), Concordia (16-4) or Fort Calhoun (7-12).

Wahoo sits 7th in power points entering district play, but a win would leap frog them over Norfolk Catholic and Milford, the two teams who would get wild cards, into the fifth-seed.

This projection is based on all of the higher seeds winning the district final.

District Champions
C1-1 – Sandy Creek
C1-2 – Wahoo
C1-3 – Concordia
C1-4 – Boone Central
C1-5 – Minden
C1-6 – Chadron

Wildcards
1. Norfolk Catholic
2. Milford

Third Place: Loser Game 5 vs Loser Game 6 – 12:00 p.m. CT at Lincoln Southeast High School

This obviously is not an official bracket, but if calculations are correct this could be the bracket this season. First thing is first, all of the “favorites” must win their respective district. Losses for certain teams could shift seeding.

The district finals are set for Feb. 24.

RANDOM – If these teams do qualify the mascots would make up three birds (an Eagle and two Cardinals), a dog (Whippet), a cat (Cougar), a horse (Mustang) and two armored humans (Knight and Warrior).
